Shovel Knight is introducing card battles in King of Cards addon

This December, Yacht Club Games are releasing two new addons for Shovel Knight. They definitely had a lot of fun creating these as they introduce some pretty unique features alongside the tried-and-true platforming you'd expect.

Shovel Knight: King of Cards marks the end of the Treasure Trove campaign saga. It touts 30 levels spread over 4 worlds with additional Challenge stages where you can take on previously defeated bosses again. So there should be lots of classic Shovel Knight gameplay here to enjoy.

As the name of the addon suggests, there's also a new card battle mode for you to "unwind and sharpen your strategic mind". Not much has been said about how it will function but it certainly looks interesting.


Yacht Club Games seems to have had a bit too much creativity because they've also announced Showdown, a multiplayer-focused brawling addon. 16 characters from the universe will be available to play in 1-on-1, 4-player, and co-op game modes. Each character also has a short campaign, culminating in a boss fight.

Both King of Cards and Showdown will be available separately for purchase on December 10th, or free for anybody that currently owns the Treasure Trove.
