BATTLETECH Heavy Metal DLC is out now - also a patch to the base game

Heavy Metal is the third, and final, planned DLC pack for Harebrained Schemes' turn-based strategy game BATTLETECH. Heavy Metal includes: new Mechs, new weapons, and a flashpoint campaign.

Building on the previous Urban Warfare DLC, Heavy Metal introduces eight new Mechs. Seven of them are classics in the Battletech universe, while the eighth is an entirely new creation for the game. Several new weapon systems are also being introduced which offer new ways to approach combat with weapons that do AOE damage. Of course, there needs to be a reason to use all these new Mechs and weapons, so the DLC also includes a flashpoint mini-campaign.

In addition to today's DLC, there's also a large patch to the base game. It adds two new Mechs that everybody can use, regardless of DLC ownership, and several other upgrades including improved support for modding.

BATTLETECH had some technical and performance issues at launch which lead to some middling reviews. But Harebrained Schemes have been dedicated to improving the game and it's quite an enjoyable experience now.
