After hitting Kickstarter back in 2017, Skookum Arts' puzzle game
The Pedestrian is nearing completion. In a recent
trailer and video announcement, a launch date was set for January 29th 2020, a little over 3 years after the initial Kickstarter campaign. The team has been posting regular updates throughout development, so it's exciting to finally hear about the game's release.
By using all kinds of signage as its core puzzle elements, the urban and industrial environment of
The Pedestrian becomes an essential part of the game. It's quite a unique combination of 3D environments and a mostly 2D gameplay space. The two spaces do somewhat blend together since the gameplay areas are so tightly connected with the environment.
Puzzles consist mostly of three distinct steps: rearranging signs, connecting them together at certain points, and finally guiding the character through all the signs towards the goal. Each step is bit of a puzzle in and of itself since, for example, connecting signs is restricted by how they're arranged. There's definitely a lot of potential for variety.
The Pedestrian already has a page up
on Steam and an early demo is available on their
itch.io page if you'd like to get a taste of the game yourself.
