Minecraft: Java Edition continues to get some love with the latest 1.15 Buzzy Bees update. This new update officially introduces bees, and all the things that go along with them, to the game. Bees can be found flying around in three different biomes: Flower Forests, Plains, and Sunflower Plains. Their hives are usually found nestled up to trees in these biomes.
Bees tend to do their own thing and won't attack unless provoked. They like to fly around, collect pollen from nearby flowers, and bring it back to their hives. If they happen to fly over any crops on their way back from collecting pollen, they will pollinate them and speed up their growth. So having a few hives around your farm can be a big benefit.
Once a hive or nest is full of honey it can either be harvested into a bottle to create pure honey, or sheered to produce honeycomb. Raw honey can be used to create new Honey Blocks, which act a bit like Slime Blocks but are a lot more sticky. They will slow you down if walked on and nearby blocks might stick to them if moved with a piston. Honeycomb can then be combined with wood to create more bees nests! Which means more bees!
Besides bees, 1.15 comes with a whole swath of
bug fixes and some nice quality of life features, such as being able to assign your spawn location to a bed without sleeping in it.
Buzzy Bees should already be available in the
Minecraft Launcher. And don't forget that our
Minecraft server will be running until the new year. So come join!
