The developers at Funselektor Labs have shown off their newest racing game project,
art of rally, by releasing a demo on itch.io. The art and gameplay are clearly influenced by their previous work on
Absolute Drift, Funselektor's well-received racer of similar style, but does feature some improvements to the controls. The addition of driving assist should also help new players ease into the game.
The demo on itch.io features a single track and 2 different cars. There are also several different weather settings that can change the handling, so there's a decent amount of replayability just in the demo. The full game, scheduled for release sometime in 2020, is said to feature 60 levels from multiple locations and over 50 vehicles.
With the top-down view in
art of rally, it can be somewhat difficult to differentiate elevation changes, especially in inclement weather conditions. I hope that Funselektor can find a good solution to this as elevation is key part of rally racing.
