The developers at Image & Form Games are switching things up again with the latest entry in the SteamWorld series. This time it's mashup of tradition of a tradition RPG and deck-building in
SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech.
As always, the art is absolutely beautiful with it's hand drawn backgrounds and characters. The art really gives off the feeling of a card game come to life. And because of the turn-based nature of the gameplay you'll have plenty of time to admire everything.
The deck building aspect may be a bit more limited depending on your previous experience with card games. Each character can have a selection of 8 cards, for a 24 card deck total. However, there are a lot of different cards so there is still plenty of opportunity to create interesting decks.
The RPG plus card aspect reminds me a lot of the
Mega Man Battle Network games. Collecting cards, instead of chips, and choosing a limited set with good synergies to use in combat.
SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech is available now on
Steam.
